One More Try

Saturday, October 22, 2005

After a month of fighting with Starband, perhaps things have settled down and I will be able to get this to post on the first try. If so, I will once again begin making post on a regular basis. If not, I'll have to see if it is perhaps this particular blogging site because for the past week or so Starband (my ISP provider) has been working great. Perhaps I had two problems, we'll soon see.

Dissertation work is going slowly. I want to thank Cheryl for emailing me with a listserve dealing with motorcycle scholarship. I can't wait to get signed up and see what I can learn. Just reading all the old AMA articles written by Motor Maids is informative. For my dissertaion, I can't really use personal interviews, but if anyone out there has kept motorcycling diaries, I would be interested in learning more and possibly getting a copy.

Two weeks ago I was at a conference in Jacksonville, FL where I presented a paper on the first Motor Maid constitution. So few people in academic circles know anything about the Motor Maids. It's almost as if they are the best kept secret in the US. Is this a good thing, or bad? I don't know. At any rate, no one in the audience knew anything about the club, and since other presenters on various topics had taken more than their alloted time, I was able to just talk about the group and a little about the first constitution. A very informal presentation, but I enjoy that kind better. The weather was not conducive to beach walking, but seafood eating was spot on.

Hopefully, this will post the first time, and we'll be back on track. (If I haven't lost all my readers.)

Later
